foot
Fenn: Foot; enough

Legge: (1) The feet (2) Sufficient, to be sufficient; fit. 4th tone: Excessive.

Wieger: #112B, A foot at rest. By extension, feet in general. The stillness is represented by the closed [circle].

Wilder: #484, The Shuo Wen says that the upper part of this radical ... indicates that the foot is at rest. When motion is indicated, pi3 is used. The lower part is zhi3 , to stop. zu2 is now used for the foot in general. pi3 , the 103rd radical, was the counterpart of zu2 . The seal writing shows the on top of zhi3 , a foot in motion. The use of zhi3 seems unfortunate; but in walking the foot is constantly starting and stopping.
